Q. 55. What is forbidden in the third commandment?

A. The third commandment forbiddeth all profaning or abusing of anything whereby God maketh himself known.[139]


[139] Leviticus 19:12. And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. Matthew 5:33-37. Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. James 5:12. But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.


문55. 제 삼 계명에 금하는 것이 무엇인가 ?

답. 제 삼 계명에 금하는 것은 무엇이든지 하나님이 자기를 나타내신 것을 훼방하거나 악용하는 것이다.

      (1) 하나님의 나타내신 것을 훼방하는 것 (출 5:2 , 레 19:12 )

      (2) 악용하는 것 (레 19:12 , 말 2:2 , 막 7:11 )
