Q. 18. Wherein consists the sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell?

A. The sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell, consists in the guilt of Adam’s first sin,[43] the want of original righteousness,[44] and the corruption of his whole nature,[45] which is commonly called original sin; together with all actual transgressions which proceed from it.[46]


[43] Romans 5:12, 19. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.... For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. (롬5:12,19 이러므로 한 사람으로 말미암아 죄가 세상에 들어오고 죄로 말미암아 사망이 왔나니 이와 같이 모든 사람이 죄를 지었으므로 사망이 모든 사람에게 이르렀느니라, 한 사람의 순종치 아니함으로 많은 사람이 죄인 된것 같이 한 사람의 순종하심으로 많은 사람이 의인이 되리라

[44] Romans 3:10. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (롬3:10기록한바 의인은 없나니 하나도 없으며  

Colossians 3:10. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (골3:10새 사람을 입었으니 이는 자기를 창조하신 자의 형상을 좇아 지식에까지 새롭게 하심을 받는 자니라 

Ephesians 4:24. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (엡4:24 하나님을 따라 의와 진리의 거룩함으로 지으심을 받은 새 사람을 입으라

[45] Psalm 51:5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. (시51:5  내가 죄악 중에 출생하였음이여 모친이 죄 중에 나를 잉태하였나이다

John 3:6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (요3:6 육으로 난 것은 육이요 성령으로 난 것은 영이니  

Romans 3:18. There is no fear of God before their eyes. (롬 3:18 저희 눈앞에 하나님을 두려워함이 없느니라 함과 같으니라

Romans 8:7-8. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (롬8:7-8  육신의 생각은 하나님과 원수가 되나니 이는 하나님의 법에 굴복치 아니할뿐 아니라 할 수도 없음이라 육신에 있는 자들은 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없느니라


Ephesians 2:3. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. (엡2:3  전에는 우리도 다 그 가운데서 우리 육체의 욕심을 따라 지내며 육체와 마음의 원하는 것을 하여 다른이들과 같이 본질상 진노의 자녀이었더니


[46] Genesis 6:5. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (창6:5 여호와께서 사람의 죄악이 세상에 관영함과 그 마음의 생각의 모든 계획이 항상 악할 뿐임을 보시고

Psalm 53:1-3. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (시 53:1-3 어리석은 자는 그 마음에 이르기를 하나님이 없다 하도다 저희는 부패하며 가증한 악을 행함이여 선을 행하는 자가 없도다 하나님이 하늘에서 인생을 굽어 살피사 지각이 있는 자와 하나님을 찾는 자가 있는가 보려 하신즉 각기 물러가 함께 더러운 자가 되고 선을 행하는 자 없으니 하나도 없도다 

Matthew 15:19. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: (마15:19  마음에서 나오는 것은 악한 생각과 살인과 간음과 음란과 도적질과 거짓 증거와 훼방이니

Romans 3:10-18, 23. As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.... For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (롬3:10-18,23  기록한바 의인은 없나니 하나도 없으며 깨닫는 자도 없고 하나님을 찾는 자도 없고 다 치우쳐 한가지로 무익하게 되고 선을 행하는 자는 없나니 하나도 없도다 저희 목구멍은 열린 무덤이요 그 혀로는 속임을 베풀며 그 입술에는 독사의 독이 있고 그 입에는 저주와 악독이 가득하고 그 발은 피 흘리는데 빠른지라 파멸과 고생이 그 길에 있어 평강의 길을 알지 못하였고 저희 눈앞에 하나님을 두려워함이 없느니라 함과 같으니라, 모든 사람이 죄를 범하였으매 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하더니 


Galatians 5:19-21. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (갈5:19-21 육체의 일은 현저하니 곧 음행과 더러운 것과 호색과 우상 숭배와 술수와 원수를 맺는 것과 분쟁과 시기와 분냄과 당 짓는 것과 분리함과 이단과 투기와 술 취함과 방탕함과 또 그와 같은 것들이라 전에 너희에게 경계한것 같이 경계하노니 이런 일을 하는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못할 것이요 

James 1:14-15. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (약1:14-15오직 각 사람이 시험을 받는 것은 자기 욕심에 끌려 미혹됨이니 욕심이 잉태한즉 죄를 낳고 죄가 장성한즉 사망을 낳느니라  


문18. 사람이 타락한 지위에서 죄되는 것이 무엇인가 ?

답. 사람이 타락한 지위에서 죄되는 것은 아담의 첫 범죄에 유죄한 것과 근본 의가 없는 것과 온 성품이 부패한 것인데 이것은 보통으로 원죄라 하는 것이요, 아울러 원죄로 말미암아 나오는 모든죄다.

      (1) 본능이 타락한 것을 원죄라 한다 (롬 5:6,12,18,19 , 고전 15:22 ,엡 2:1 , 롬 3:10 , 창 6:5 )

      (2) 모든 범죄 (마 15:19 , 약 1:14,15 )
