▶ 그리스도(Christ) -> 예수(Jesus)

희랍말로 크리오 (기름부음)란 동사에서 나온 "기름 부은 자"란 뜻이다.

신약에는 이것을 히브리 말로 메시야 "기름 부은 자"와 같은 뜻으로 사용하였다. 기름 붓 는 것은 히브리 사람에게 있어서 국왕, 제사장, 예언자의 직분을 성별하는 표였다 

(출29:7), (삼상10:1, (삼상16:13), (왕상19:16).

그리스도라는 이름이 가장 중요한 것은 나사렛 예수에게 이 말이 적용하였고 (마16:16) 예수 자신이 이 이름을 요구하셨다 (요04:26).

▶ 그리스도 Christ, The Christ, 

ὁ χριστός. An official title of the Lord Jesus, which became used as a name. In John 1:41; John 4:25 this title is linked with the Messiah of the O.T. The Jews and Samaritans were expecting THE MESSIAH, "which is called Christ." We find the title 'Messiah' in Dan. 9:25, 26 in the prophecy of the Seventy Weeks. The Hebrew word is mashiach and signifies 'anointed.' This term is employed as to the Lord Jesus in Ps. 2:2: the rulers set themselves against Jehovah and His 'Anointed.'

(단09:25-26 25 그러므로 너는 깨달아 알지니라 예루살렘을 중건하라는 영이 날 때부터 기름부음을 받은 자 곧 왕이 일어나기까지 일곱 이레와 육십 이 이레가 지날 것이요 그 때 곤란한 동안에 성이 중건되어 거리와 해자가 이룰 것이며 26 육십 이 이레 후에 기름부음을 받은 자가 끊어져 없어질 것이며 장차 한 왕의 백성이 와서 그 성읍과 성소를 훼파하려니와 그의 종말은 홍수에 엄몰됨 같을 것이며 또 끝까지 전쟁이 있으리니 황폐할 것이 작정되었느니라 25 Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.  26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

The same word is used in reference to the high priest and the king as God's anointed; but the Lord Jesus is emphatically 'the Anointed,' this being the signification of the Word 'the Christ' which should be read in many places in the N.T. where the A.V. simply has 'Christ.' In the Gospels it is nearly always 'the Christ,' and often in the Epistles, except where it is Jesus Christ, or Christ Jesus which has more the character of a name. It refers to the Lord as Man, being anointed with the Holy Ghost.

In Daniel we read that Messiah the Prince would be cut off and have nothing (margin), which was fulfilled when, instead of being hailed as Messiah by the Jews, He was rejected, cut off, and had, at the time, nothing of His Messianic honours, though, in His death, He laid the foundation of His future glory on earth, as well as effecting eternal redemption for the saved. We read in 1 Cor. 12:12 that as the body is one, and hath many members, "so also is the Christ:" the Head and the members in the power and the anointing of the Spirit form but one body.

(고전12:12 몸은 하나인데 많은 지체가 있고 몸의 지체가 많으나 한 몸임과 같이 그리스도도 그러하니라

Being rejected as Messiah on earth, He is made as risen from the dead both Lord and Christ, Acts 2:36, and thus the counsels of God with regard to Him, and man in Him, are effectuated. Saints now are spoken of as having been chosen in Christ from before the foundation of the world. All things in heaven and on earth are to be headed up in the Christ, Eph. 1:10. As the Christ, He is the Head of the body the church. Eph. 4:15.  But the subject can be merely touched on in a short article.
