A. The reason annexed to the fifth commandment is, a promise of long life and prosperity (as far as it shall serve for God’s glory and their own good) to all such as keep this commandment.[154]
[154] Exodus 20:12. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Deuteronomy 5:16. Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Ephesians 6:2-3. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
문66. 제 오 계명에 지키라 한 이유가 무엇인가 ?
답. 제 오 계명에 지키라 한 이유는 이 계명을 지키는 모든 자에게 장수함과 흥왕하는 복을 허락 하심이니 다만 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 사람에게 이익이 있도록 만 주시는 것이다.
