Q. 47. What is forbidden in the first commandment?

A. The first commandment forbiddeth the denying,[121] or not worshiping and glorifying, the true God as God,[122] and our God;[123] and the giving of that worship and glory to any other, which is due to him alone.[124]


[121] Psalm 14:1. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (시14:1 어리석은 자는 그 마음에 이르기를 하나님이 없다 하도다 저희는 부패하고 소행이 가증하여 선을 행하는 자가 없도다 

[122] Romans 1:20-21. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (롬1:20-21 창세로부터 그의 보이지 아니하는 것들 곧 그의 영원하신 능력과 신성이 그 만드신 만물에 분명히 보여 알게 되나니 3)그러므로 저희가 핑계치 못할찌니라 하나님을 알되 하나님으로 영화롭게도 아니하며 감사치도 아니하고 오히려 그 생각이 허망하여지며 미련한 마음이 어두워졌나니

[123] Psalm 81:10-11. I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. (시81:10-11 나는 너를 애굽땅에서 인도하여 낸 여호와 네 하나님이니 네 입을 넓게 열라 내가 채우리라 하였으나 내 백성이 내 소리를 듣지 아니하며 이스라엘이 나를 원치 아니하였도다  

[124] Ezekiel 8:16-18. And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east. Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. (겔8:16-18 그가 또 나를 데리고 여호와의 전 안뜰에 들어가시기로 보니 여호와의 전문 앞 현관과 제단 사이에서 약 이십 오인이 여호와의 전을 등지고 낯을 동으로 향하여 동방 태양에 경배하더라 또 내게 이르시되 인자야 네가 보았느냐 유다 족속이 여기서 행한 가증한 일을 적다 하겠느냐 그들이 강포로 이 땅에 채우고 또 다시 내 노를 격동하고 심지어 나무가지를 그 코에 두었느니라 그러므로 나도 분노로 갚아 아껴 보지 아니하고 긍휼을 베풀지도 아니하리니 그들이 큰 소리로 내 귀에 부르짖을찌라도 내가 듣지 아니하리라

Romans 1:25. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. (롬1:25 이는 저희가 하나님의 진리를 거짓 것으로 바꾸어 피조물을 조물주보다 더 경배하고 섬김이라 주는 곧 영원히 찬송할 이시로다 아멘 


문47. 제 일 계명이 금하는 것이 무엇인가 ?

답. 제 일 계명이 금하는 것은 참 신을 하나님으로 알지 아니하거나, 우리의 하나님으로 경배하지 않고 영화롭게도 하지 않는 것과, 그에게만 합당한 경배와 영화를 다른이에게 드리는 것이다.

      (1) 참 신을 하나님으로 섬기지 아니하는 것 (시 14:1 , 롬 1:20,21 )

      (2) 그를 경배하지 아니하는 것 (렘 2:27,28 )

      (3) 하나님의 영광을 타처에 드리는 것 (단 5:23 , 신 8:11-20 )
