▼ 박찬호, 불펜난조 승리놓쳐...지토는 홈구장 8연패 후 첫승

박찬호가 가공할 위력을 발휘하고도 불펜의 구원실패로 시즌 5승을 날렸다.

박찬호(35 LA 다저스)는 6일 AT&T 파크에서 벌어진 샌프란시스코 자이언츠와의 경기에서 최근 선발 등판 세 경기 연속 매회 탈삼진 기록을 세우는 등 6이닝을 3안타 1실점으로 호투했지만 승리를 놓쳤다.

박찬호는 2-1로 앞선 7회초 2사 2,3루에서 자기 타순 때 대타로 교체됐으며 다저스는 7회말 곧바로 동점을 허용하며 박찬호의 승리를 날렸다.

투구수 91개에 스트라이크 57개를 던졌으며 최고 구속 97마일(156km)를 전광판에 찍었다. 탈삼진 7개에 볼넷 3개.

박찬호는 시즌 4승2패 제자리 걸음에 2.45이던 평균자책점만 2.38로 끌어내렸다.

승리는 날렸지만 되살아난 박찬호의 위력을 보여주기엔 충분한 경기였다.

박찬호는 이날도 6회까지 매회 탈삼진을 기록해 선발 등판만 따질 경우 박찬호는 6월22일 클리블랜드전부터 이날까지 3경기에서 17이닝 연속 매회 삼진을 잡아내는 가공할 위력을 과시했다. 17이닝 동안 탈삼진 합계는 23개.

또 이날 5이닝 동안 무실점 행진을 해 6월22일 클리블랜드 인디언스전 3회에 솔로 홈런 한 방으로 실점한 이후 이날까지 6회 1실점하기 전까지 14.1이닝 연속 무실점 행진을 이어가기도 했다.

1회 선두타자 프레드 루이스를 삼진으로 잡아낸 박찬호는 레이 더램에게 볼넷을 허용했으나 랜디 윈을 삼진, 벤지 몰리나를 유격수 땅볼로 처리하며 이닝을 마쳤다.

2회에는 첫 위기를 맞이했다. 선두타자 아론 로완드의 빗맞은 타구가 2루수 앞 내야 안타가 되고 폭투로 이어진 무사 1루에서 존 바우커에게 중견수 앞에 떨어지는 안타를 맞아 무사 1,3루에 몰린 것.

박찬호는 호세 카스티요를 1루 땅볼로 처리한 뒤 오마 비스켈에게는 고의성이 짙은 볼넷을 내주며 만루작전을 펼쳤다. 다음 타자가 상대 투수인 배리 지토라는 점을 의식한 작전이었다.

결국 배리 지토를 삼진으로 처리한 박찬호는 프레드 루이스에게 날카로운 타구를 맞았으나 2루수 제프 켄트의 호수비로 무사히 위기를 넘겼다.

2회까지 투구수가 39개로 다소 많았지만 3회를 9개의 공을 삼자범퇴 처리하며 본격적으로 안정을 되찾았다. 3회부터 5회까지 단 한 번의 출루도 허용하지 않는 퍼펙트.

3회 선두타자 레이 더램은 기습번트를 시도했으나 박찬호의 호수비로 무위에 그쳤고 랜디 윈은 삼진, 벤지 몰리나는 3루 땅볼로 아웃됐다.

4회에도 호세 카스티요를 삼진으로 잡아내는 등 삼자범퇴로 처리한 박찬호는 5회에도 오마 비스켈을 3루수 앞 번트, 배리 지토를 유격수 땅볼로 처리한 뒤 프레드 루이스를 삼진으로 잡아내 매회 탈삼진 기록을 이어갔다.

6회에는 선두타자 레이 더램에게 볼넷을 허용, 12타자 만에 출루를 허용 위기를 맞이 했다. 다음 타자 랜디 윈을 2루수 땅볼, 벤지 몰리나를 삼진으로 처리하며 한숨을 돌리는 듯 하던 박찬호는 결국 아론 로완드에게 오른쪽 파울라인 안쪽에 떨어지는 2루타를 맞고 실점을 허용했다.

6월22일 클리블랜드전 3회 이후 이어오던 무실점 행진이 14.1이닝 만에 깨지는 아쉬운 순간이었다.

하지만 박찬호는 계속된 2사 2루에서 존 바우커를 1루 땅볼로 처리하며 승리 자격을 지킨 채 이날 피칭을 마쳤다.

다저스는 1회초 맷 켐프와 안드레 이티어의 연속 2루타로 선취점을 올리고 제프 켄트의 중전안타로 이어진 1사 1,3루에서 앤드류 존스의 유격수 앞 땅볼로 1점을 추가, 2-0으로 앞섰다.

하지만 다저스 타선도 2회부터 시작된 배리 지토의 호투에 눌려 고전을 면치 못했다.

결국 7회초 2사 2,3루 기회를 놓친 다저스는 2-1로 앞선 7회말 등판한 조 바이멜이 호세 카스티요에게 2루타를 맞고 보내기 번트로 이어진 2사 3루에서 두 번째 구원투수 브라이언 폴큰버그마저 프레드 루이스에게 적시타를 맞고 통한의 동점을 허용했다.

기세가 오른 샌프란시스코는 랜디 윈의 적시타 등으로 3점을 추가, 5-2로 승리했다.

7년에 총연봉 1억2천600만달러의 몸값을 자랑하는 지토는 올해 3승12패로 부진했으나 이날 7이닝 동안 6안타 2실점에 삼진 10개를 잡는 호투로 시즌 4승째를 따냈다.

지토는 홈구장인 AT&T 파크에서 전날까지 올시즌 9경기에 선발 등판해 승리없이 8패에 평균자책점 7.33이라는 참담한 성적을 기록한 뒤 열번째 도전에서 마침내 홈구장 1승을 올렸다.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)—Randy Winn and Fred Lewis hit two-out RBI singles during San Francisco’s four-run rally in the seventh inning and the Giants kept the Los Angeles Dodgers out of first place in the NL West with a 5-2 comeback victory Saturday night.

Bengie Molina added a two-run double for the Giants, who tagged the Dodgers’ bullpen shortly after starter Chan Ho Park was pulled for a pinch-hitter with a 2-1 lead.

Park and Barry Zito staged an unlikely pitchers’ duel over the first six innings. Park threw six innings of three-hit ball while Zito (4-12) struck out 10 in perhaps the best start of his woeful season.

Six straight Giants reached base with two outs in the seventh, starting with Lewis’ tying single off Brian Falkenborg (0-1). After Ray Durham walked, Winn drove home Lewis with a high-bouncing grounder up the middle that barely eluded second baseman Jeff Kent. Molina then doubled down the left-field line off Cory Wade.

With the Arizona Diamondbacks’ loss to San Diego, Los Angeles (42-45) could have moved into first place for the first time since the season’s opening week. Instead, the Dodgers’ four-game winning streak was snapped as they failed to get within one game of .500 for the first time since June 2.

Brian Wilson got four outs for his 24th save in 26 chances—including 15 in a row—as the Giants improved the majors’ worst home record to 17-27 with just their fourth win in 14 games at their waterfront ballpark.

Zito, who already has set the team record for losses before the All-Star break, made up for a bad first inning with six outstanding frames, retiring 13 straight batters at one point and yielding six hits over seven innings.

The woebegone $126 million left-hander has been downright solid in two of his last three starts, even relocating the deceptive curveball and accompanying pitches that entertained fans for years across the bay in Oakland.

Matt Kemp hit Zito’s second pitch to deep left-center, but a fan stuck his glove over the fence and caught it on the fly, limiting Kemp to a double. Two pitches later, Andre Ethier hit a double down the right-field line, scoring Kemp anyway. Ethier then scored on Andruw Jones’ groundout.

After Kemp was caught stealing to end the second inning, Zito retired every batter he faced until Nomar Garciaparra’s one-out bloop single in the seventh. Zito escaped that jam by getting pinch-hitter Andy LaRoche on a harmless grounder, earning a standing ovation from the San Francisco crowd that frequently has booed him this season.

Zito hadn’t struck out 10 batters in a game since June 16, 2006—also against the Dodgers.

Park also was outstanding in just his fourth start of the season after spending most of the first 2 1/2 months in manager Joe Torre’s bullpen. The right-hander retired 11 straight in the middle innings and gave up his only run in the sixth on Aaron Rowand’s RBI double.

Park, who had seven strikeouts, got back into the rotation when right-hander Brad Penny went on the disabled list in mid-June with soreness in his throwing shoulder. Park lost his first start of June despite allowing just one run, but shut out the Angels for six innings last week.

Penny is expected to be out through the All-Star break after shutting down a simulated game with more pain in his shoulder. Park will keep Penny’s place in the rotation, Torre said. … Jones and Garciaparra both will get the day off in Sunday’s series finale after returning from injury absences Friday night. Jones, who went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts Friday, went 0-for-4 with an RBI groundout, while Garciaparra was 1-for-3 with a walk.
