WCF01-06 Chapter I Of the Holy Scripture

VI. The whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for His own glory, man's salvation, faith and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men.[12] Nevertheless, we acknowledge the inward illumination of the Spirit of God to be necessary for the saving understanding of such things as are revealed in the Word:[13] and that there are some circumstances concerning the worship of God, and government of the Church, common to human actions and societies, which are to be ordered by the light of nature, and Christian prudence, according to the general rules of the Word, which are always to be observed.[14]

01-06. 하나님의 영광, 인간의 구원, 그리고 신앙과 실생활에 필요한 하나님의 모든 지혜(진리)는 성경에 명백히 기록되어 있다. 아니면 필연적이고 좋은 추론에 의하여 그것을 성경에서 끌어낼 수 있는 것이다. 성경에는 성령의 새 계시나 인간의 유전을 언제든지 더하지 못한다.12) 우리가 말씀에 계시된 것을 구원받는 데 효과 있도록 깨달으려면 성령의 내적 조명을 받아야만 한다.13)

다만 교회의 예배나 행정과 같은 일에 관하여 인류의 일반 행사나 집회와 마찬가지의 사정이 있을 수 있다. 그런 경우에는 일반 이성의 정당한 지시와 기독 신자의 양식에 의하여 처리되어야 한다. 이 경우에도 할 수 있는 데까지는 하나님 말씀의 일반적 원칙들을 늘 살펴서 지켜야 한다.14)
