Q. 106. What do we pray for in the sixth petition?

A. In the sixth petition, which is, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, we pray that God would either keep us from being tempted to sin,[223] or support and deliver us when we are tempted.[224]


[223] Psalm 19:13. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. (시19:13 또 주의 종으로 고범죄를 짓지 말게 하사 그 죄가 나를 주장치 못하게 하소서 그리하시면 내가 정직하여 큰 죄과에서 벗어나겠나이다

Matthew 26:41. Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (마26:41시험에 들지 않게 깨어 있어 기도하라 마음에는 원이로되 육신이 약하도다 하시고 

John 17:15. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. (요17:15 내가 비옵는 것은 저희를 세상에서 데려가시기를 위함이 아니요 오직 악에 빠지지 않게 보전하시기를 위함이니이다

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. (눅22:31-32시몬아, 시몬아, 보라 사단이 밀 까부르듯 하려고 너희를 청구하였으나 그러나 내가 너를 위하여 네 믿음이 떨어지지 않기를 기도하였노니 너는 돌이킨 후에 네 형제를 굳게 하라  

1 Corinthians 10:13. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (고전10:13 사람이 감당할 시험 밖에는 너희에게 당한 것이 없나니 오직 하나님은 미쁘사 너희가 감당치 못할 시험 당함을 허락지 아니하시고 시험 당할 즈음에 또한 피할 길을 내사 너희로 능히 감당하게 하시느니라 

2 Corinthians 12:7-9. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (고후12:7-9 여러 계시를 받은 것이 지극히 크므로 너무 자고하지 않게 하시려고 내 육체에 가시 곧 사단의 사자를 주셨으니 이는 나를 쳐서 너무 자고하지 않게 하려 하심이니라 이것이 내게서 떠나기 위하여 내가 세번 주께 간구하였더니 내게 이르시기를 내 은혜가 네게 족하도다 이는 내 능력이 약한데서 온전하여짐이라 하신지라 이러므로 도리어 크게 기뻐함으로 나의 여러 약한 것들에 대하여 자랑하리니 이는 그리스도의 능력으로 내게 머물게 하려함이라  

 Hebrews 2:18. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. (히2:18 자기가 시험을 받아 고난을 당하셨은즉 시험 받는 자들을 능히 도우시느니라


문106. 주기도문의 여섯째 기도에 우리가 무엇을 구하는가 ?

답. 여섯째 기도는 곧 우리를 시험에 들지 말게 하옵시고 다만 악에서 구원하옵소서 하는 것이니, 이는 하나님이 혹 우리를 시험에 들지 아니하게 하시거나 시험을 당할 때에 우리를 보호하여 구원하옵소서 하는 것이다.

      (1) 시험에 들지 않기를 구하는 것 (마 26:41 )

      (2) 시험당할 때에 보호하여 주시기를 구하는 것 (시 51:12 , 살전 5:23 )
