Q. 96. What is the Lord’s Supper?

A. The Lord’s Supper is a sacrament, wherein, by giving and receiving bread and wine, according to Christ’s appointment, his death is showed forth;[197] and the worthy receivers are, not after a corporal and carnal manner, but by faith, made partakers of his body and blood, with all his benefits, to their spiritual nourishment, and growth in grace.[198]


[197] Luke 22:19-20. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. (눅22:19-20또 떡을 가져 사례하시고 떼어 저희에게 주시며 가라사대 이것은 너희를 위하여 주는 내 몸이라 너희가 이를 행하여 나를 기념하라 하시고 저녁 먹은 후에 잔도 이와 같이 하여 가라사대 이 잔은 내 피로 세우는 새 언약이니 곧 너희를 위하여 붓는 것이라 

1 Corinthians 11:23-26. For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come. (고전11:23-26 내가 너희에게 전한 것은 주께 받은 것이니 곧 주 예수께서 잡히시던 밤에 떡을 가지사 축사하시고 떼어 가라사대 이것은 너희를 위하는 내 몸이니 이것을 행하여 나를 기념하라 하시고 식후에 또한 이와 같이 잔을 가지시고 가라사대 이 잔은 내 피로 세운 새 언약이니 이것을 행하여 마실 때마다 나를 기념하라 하셨으니 너희가 이 떡을 먹으며 이 잔을 마실 때마다 주의 죽으심을 오실 때까지 전하는 것이니라 


[198] 1 Corinthians 10:16-17. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. (고전10:16-17우리가 축복하는바 축복의 잔은 그리스도의 피에 참예함이 아니며 우리가 떼는 떡은 그리스도의 몸에 참예함이 아니냐 떡이 하나요 많은 우리가 한 몸이니 이는 우리가 다 한 떡에 참예함이라 


문96. 주의 성찬이 무엇인가 ?

답. 주의 성찬은 곧 성례이니, 그리스도의 정하신 대로 떡과 포도주를 주며 받는 것으로 그 죽으심을 나타냄이다. 합당하게 받는 자들은 육체와 정욕으로 참여함이 아니요, 믿음으로써 그의 몸과 피에 참여하여 자기의 신령하게 받은 양육과 은혜 중에서 장성함으로 그의 모든 효험을 받음이다.

      (1) 그리스도 께서 정하신 예식 (떡과 포도즙 ) (눅 22:15 , 고전 11:23 )

      (2) 예수님이 죽으심을 기념하는 것 (고전 11:25,26 )

      (3) 육체와 정욕으로 참여하는 것이아님 (고전 11:27 )

      (4) 믿음으로 몸과 피에 참여하는 것 (고전 11:28 )

      (5) 은혜 중에 장성하는 효력 (요 6:55,56 , 엡 3:17 )
