02Exo1901 [LLM0309] The Ten Commandments

Exodus 19-20
개역한글성경 출19:01 - 출20:26

Three months after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, they came into a wilderness place, and they put their tents up in front of Mount Sinai. And there Moses, (who had led them out of Egypt) went up onto the mountain and there the LORD God called him and this is what the LORD told Moses to say to the nation of Israel:

"You saw what I did to the Egyptians. Now if you will obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you will be a treasure to me above all people, because all the earth is mine."

And so Moses went back and told the people, and they agreed to do all that the LORD told them to. And so the LORD told Moses that on the third day, He would come down in the sight of all the people. And on the third day in the morning, there was thunder and lightning, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and a voice of a trumpet, and all the people in the camp trembled. And Moses brought all the people to meet with God, and there was smoke all over the mountain, because the LORD descended upon it in fire, and the mountain shook. And when the trumpet sound grew louder and louder, the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

And here are the words that the LORD God spoke to Moses:

"I am the LORD your God. You shall have no other gods before me."

"You shall not make any carved image, or any image of anything that is in heaven, or that is in the earth, or that is in the water. You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them, for I am a jealous God, and show mercy to those that love me and keep my commandments."

"You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain."

"Remember to keep the sabbath day holy. Six days you shall work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God, you shall not do any work that day, for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day. Therefore, the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and made it holy."

"Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land."

"You shall not kill"

"You shall not commit adultery."

"You shall not steal."

"You shall not tell things about your neighbour that are not true."

"You shall not desire your neighbours house for yourself, or his wife, or his servants, or his animals, or anything that is your neighbours."

And all the people saw the lightning, and the smoke, and heard the thunder and the trumpet, and when Moses returned, they were afraid, but Moses told them not to be afraid, and told them not to make gods of silver or gold.

And after that Moses went back up to Mount Sinai, and the LORD spoke with him again, and after He finished speaking with Moses, the LORD gave him two tablets made of stone, with the commandments upon them, written with the finger of God. (Exodus 31:18)

Memory Verse: "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day." (Exodus 20:11)
