1 John 03: The Two Kinds Of Hate

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him ... Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate ... Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil"

The English-language word "hate" originated from an Anglo-Saxon word, hete, that meant to strongly dislike something because it is viewed as being abominably offensive. The word applied as much to objects, as animals, or humans. The term was about having the sovereign right to think for one's self.

There are two kinds of hate recorded in the Holy Bible.

Some people who choose to live self-destructive perverted lives (as they have every right to do, according to the Word of God, because that is what His Judgment will be about: "22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be" Revelation 22:11-12 KJV; see Let Both Grow Together Until The Harvest) use the in itself hateful term "haters" for those who believe that it is wrong to make one's self a victim of dead-end rebellion and immorality of any kind. But they should include the LORD (see The Identity Of The LORD God) Himself in their "haters" list.

"6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19 KJV)

"11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth." (Psalm 11:5 KJV)

"22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie." (Revelation 22:14-15 KJV)

According to the Word of God, by the LORD's own example, it is not wrong to hate what is evil - its is commanded ("5:15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph" Amos 5:15 KJV) - while keeping in mind that it's also the right of those who choose to do evil to do so without interference from those who regard their public behavior to be offensive.

It is however, according to the Word of God, wrong to hate what is good - as has become typical of the intolerant, always-easily-offended (while declaring the right to be as offensive to others as they want) doomed-to-fail "political correctness" tyranny - a favoritism dictatorship of any one minority over everyone else.

The Word is God is about loving the ways of life, and eternal life (see the Fact Finder question below), rather than loving the things and behavior that will deprive people of their eternal life and happiness. God's Law is about winning, not being a self-made-by-choice loser.

"3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother." (1 John 3:1-10 KJV)

The "world" (see Friends Of The World, Enemies Of God and Who Were The People Born After Each Of The Three Worldwide Floods?) has hated the Word of God right from the time of humanity's rejection of the Word of the LORD in favor of the Devil's way of misery and death. Satan's world is however going to be obliterated by the LORD at the time of His return - along with everyone who chooses to hate His Way of Life.

"3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us." (1 John 3:11-24 KJV)
