Romans 09: The Only Political Party That's Going To Survive
by Wayne Blank

"The God of heaven shall set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the Sovereignty thereof be left to another people ... It shall stand for ever"
Humans have created many forms of politics and government for themselves. The methods and philosophies differ greatly across a wide behavioral spectrum (see also Is Iniquity Liberal Or Conservative?), but they all share a common future - oblivion. It is in fact that coming political reality that the true Gospel of the coming Kingdom of God is all about (see the Fact Finder question below).
The prophet Daniel knew and understood it (see Nebuchadnezzar's Dream Of The World To Come):
"2:44 And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty thereof be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." (Daniel 2:44 KJV)
The apostle John, who was also a major prophet from his writing of the book of Revelation that the Messiah spoke to him, knew and understood it (see Revelation: Thy Kingdom Come):
"1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show unto his servants, even the things which must shortly come to pass: and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John" (Revelation 1:1 KJV)
"1:6 And he made us to be a kingdom, to be priests unto his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1:7 Behold, he cometh with the clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they that pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth shall mourn over him. Even so, Amen." (Revelation 1:6-7 KJV)
"5:9 And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood men of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, 5:10 and madest them to be unto our God a kingdom and priests; and they reign upon earth." (Revelation 5:9-10 KJV)
"11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there followed great voices in heaven, and they said, The kingdom of the world is become the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ: and he shall reign for ever and ever." (Revelation 11:15 KJV)
The famous "LORD's Prayer" (see also The LORD's Prayers To The Father) is a political statement about what and where Salvation means: "Thy Kingdom come."
"6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 6:10 Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread. 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen." (Matthew 6:9-13 KJV)
The reason that it will be the Kingdom of God is the same reason that God is called The Father.
The English-language word "king" originated from a compound Anglo-Saxon word, cyning, which literally meant the father of a kin. The Hebrew word of the Holy Scriptures that is translated as "king" is pronounced meh-lek. It means exactly the same as the English word that is used to translate it - king, the father of a people. God will be the Father of His people when they are "born again" - after being conceived by the Holy Spirit (see What Was The Lesson Of John 3:16?).
The word "patriotism" originated from a Latin word that meant faithful to the father. The terms patriot and patriotism were both originally family, not political, terms. "Patriotism" meant and truly means, faithful to the Father, not faithful to one's brothers or sisters in man-made governments.
The penalty for being a traitor to the Patriarch of a family was exactly the same as it later became for traitors to the Patriarch of a kingdom (keeping in mind that nations and kingdoms originated from families - Israel is the most obvious example; see The Origin Of Israel and The Origin Of Israelites And Jews). It was blasphemy against the family itself.
"21:15 And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death." (Exodus 21:15 KJV)
21:17 And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death." (Exodus 21:17 KJV)
The true and literal meaning of "patriotism" is the basis of the Fifth Commandment. Notice the stated connection between Patriotism and "the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." Ultimately, that means the Kingdom of God.
"20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee." (Exodus 20:12 KJV)
The united Kingdom of Israel was created by the LORD (see The Identity Of The LORD God and The LORD God Our Saviour) as a living prophecy of the coming united Kingdom of God (see When Will The Prophecy Of Israel Be Fulfilled?).
The Israelites however did not live up to their calling, but instead lived down to themselves. They rejected the LORD as their King, and began their democratic death-spiral of choosing for themselves one bungling and corrupt "leader" after another. The LORD did not stand in the way of their demand for "freedom" from His Rule - He permitted them to destroy themselves with it (see The Politics And Religion Of The Lost Ten Tribes and The Politics Of The Two Kingdoms).
"8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them." (1 Samuel 8:7 KJV)
"8:18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day." (1 Samuel 8:18 KJV)
So it was then that, very often, the preachers of the Gospel, including the Messiah Himself (see the Fact Finder question below), used history as the basis of presenting the Truth to those who had the good sense to hear it.
"9:1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, 9:2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 9:3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: 9:4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; 9:5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: 9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. 9:9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
9:10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 9:12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 9:15 For he saith to Moses,
I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
9:19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? 9:25 As he saith also in Osee,
I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel,
Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. 9:29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 9:33 As it is written,
Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." (Romans 9:1-33 KJV)
