Daniel 12: Sealed Till The Time Of The End

"Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end"

The prophet Daniel's ministry began in the time of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon (see Daniel's Knowledge Of Wisdom And Science and Nebuchadnezzar's Dream Of The World To Come). He continued through the reigns of the last kings of Babylon (see The Fiery Furnace Of The Head Of Gold and What Part Of The Bible Was Written By A Babylonian King?) until the Babylonian Empire fell to the Persian Empire (see The Hand Writing On The Wall and The Beasts And The Little Big Horn.)

Daniel then continued as a servant of the LORD (see The Identity Of The LORD God and The LORD God Our Saviour) into the Persian Empire (Persia is known today as Iran; see Daniel In The Den Of Lions and The Ram And He Goat Of Persia And Greece and The Seventy Sevens In History And Prophecy).

The Book of Daniel was completed with the prophecies of the historic and end-time "king of the north" and "king of the south." That specific prophecy spanned chapter 10 (see Daniel's Latter Days Vision), chapter 11 (see The Abominations Of Desolations By The Kings Of The North And South) and chapter 12, as covered below.

There is no doubt what-so-ever that the prophecy ends in the yet-future because it describes the coming resurrections of the dead.

"12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book [see What Happened When The Messiah Arrived In Heaven? and What Happens After The Messiah Returns?].

12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt [see When And Where Your Eternal Life Will Begin and The Eighth Day: Empty Cemeteries]. 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." (Daniel 12:1-4 KJV)

The 42-month / 3 ½ year "end time" was also further explained to Daniel, just as it was later to the apostle John, centuries later, in the Book of Revelation (see The Battle Of The End-Time Prophets).

"12:5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 12:6 And one said to the man clothed in linen [see also Linen In History And Prophecy], which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished." (Daniel 12:5-7 KJV)

With his work completed, Daniel was told to "Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end" (see The Seals Of Prophecy).

"12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?

12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end [see The Church In The End Time and The Church In The Kingdom Of God]. 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

12:13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days." (Daniel 12:8-13 KJV)
