Ezekiel 41: When Will There Be No More Temples Built In Jerusalem?
by Wayne Blank
See also 1 Year Holy Bible Reading Plan
"I saw no Temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the Temple of it"
When all is done (see What's The Expiration Date Of The Church?, The Church In The Kingdom Of God and The Church: Mission Accomplished), there will be no Temple in the New Jerusalem. The prophetic purpose of the Temples will then have been accomplished (see The Heart Of The Temple).
"21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:1-4 KJV)
"21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it." (Revelation 21:22 KJV)
There are two resurrections to salvation coming. Some of humanity, from people of all nations who received their calling to repentance through all of human history, will be in the first resurrection, to eternal spirit, on the day of the Messiah's return (see The Feast Of Trumpets: The First Christian Salvation Day). The second resurrection, from people of all nations who did not yet receive their calling to repentance through all of human history, will be in the second resurrection, to physical life - when they will begin the same process of repentance and conversion that those of the first resurrection accomplished (see The Eighth Day: Living Waters).
"20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.
This is the first resurrection. 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years." (Revelation 20:5-6 KJV)
For those of the first resurrection, the symbolic and prophetic purpose of physical Temples will have been accomplished on the day of the Messiah's return. For the remainder of humanity, it will not yet be accomplished - the reason that there will be a physical Temple in Jerusalem after the Messiah's return.
The great physical resurrection will be of people from all nations - including many Israelites who never had their means of conversion (i.e. the Holy Spirit - "And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it"). The "dry bones" prophecy of Israel will also be experienced by billions of other people (see When The LORD Will Raise All Of The Dead). According to the Holy Scriptures, it is in that time that the Temple that Ezekiel saw (see What Temple Did Ezekiel See?) will stand and function - until its purpose has also been accomplished.
"37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 37:14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD." (Ezekiel 37:12-14 KJV)
"4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Micah 4:1-3 KJV)
43:4 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. 43:5 So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house." (Ezekiel 43:1-5 KJV)
"47:1 Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar." (Ezekiel 47:1 KJV)
"47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine." (Ezekiel 47:12 KJV)
From when it was begun to be recorded in the previous chapter (keeping in mind that the Holy Scriptures were originally written without chapters), the LORD (see The Identity Of The LORD God and The LORD God Our Saviour) continued His description to Ezekiel of the Temple that will exist during the 1,000 years (see Ezekiel 40: What Temple Did Ezekiel See?).
"41:1 Afterward he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle. 41:2 And the breadth of the door was ten cubits; and the sides of the door were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, forty cubits: and the breadth, twenty cubits.
41:3 Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits. 41:4 So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place.
41:5 After he measured the wall of the house, six cubits; and the breadth of every side chamber, four cubits, round about the house on every side. 41:6 And the side chambers were three, one over another, and thirty in order; and they entered into the wall which was of the house for the side chambers round about, that they might have hold, but they had not hold in the wall of the house. 41:7 And there was an enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward, and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst.
41:8 I saw also the height of the house round about: the foundations of the side chambers were a full reed of six great cubits. 41:9 The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within. 41:10 And between the chambers was the wideness of twenty cubits round about the house on every side. 41:11 And the doors of the side chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south: and the breadth of the place that was left was five cubits round about.
41:12 Now the building that was before the separate place at the end toward the west was seventy cubits broad; and the wall of the building was five cubits thick round about, and the length thereof ninety cubits.
41:13 So he measured the house, an hundred cubits long; and the separate place, and the building, with the walls thereof, an hundred cubits long; 41:14 Also the breadth of the face of the house, and of the separate place toward the east, an hundred cubits.
41:15 And he measured the length of the building over against the separate place which was behind it, and the galleries thereof on the one side and on the other side, an hundred cubits, with the inner temple, and the porches of the court;
41:16 The door posts, and the narrow windows, and the galleries round about on their three stories, over against the door, cieled with wood round about, and from the ground up to the windows, and the windows were covered; 41:17 To that above the door, even unto the inner house, and without, and by all the wall round about within and without, by measure. 41:18 And it was made with cherubims and palm trees, so that a palm tree was between a cherub and a cherub; and every cherub had two faces; 41:19 So that the face of a man was toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side: it was made through all the house round about. 41:20 From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
41:21 The posts of the temple were squared, and the face of the sanctuary; the appearance of the one as the appearance of the other. 41:22 The altar of wood was three cubits high, and the length thereof two cubits; and the corners thereof, and the length thereof, and the walls thereof, were of wood: and he said unto me, This is the table that is before the LORD. 41:23 And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors. 41:24 And the doors had two leaves apiece, two turning leaves; two leaves for the one door, and two leaves for the other door. 41:25 And there were made on them, on the doors of the temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the porch without. 41:26 And there were narrow windows and palm trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the porch, and upon the side chambers of the house, and thick planks." (Ezekiel 41:1-26 KJV)
